This post is to inform all BBC members that the on-line database for registering for a resident’s permit as a consequence of BREXIT is now open.
At this time, 21st October, 2020, the following information can be found on the French Government website.
“The withdrawal agreement concluded between the United Kingdom and the European Union provides for a transition period to run until 31 December 2020. During this period, British citizens and their family members already living in France or wishing to move to France before 31 December 2020 retain their rights as European citizens and are not required to hold a residence permit. Pursuant to this agreement, these citizens will need to apply for “withdrawal agreement” residence permits. However, they have a long time-frame in which to make their application since they will only be required to hold a residence permit as of 1 October 2021.”
This announcement implies that the process needs to be completed by 1 October 2021. It is not therefore the deadline for registrations for a permit, which according to current information is still 30 June, 2021. Members are advised not to leave registration to the last minute.
