In the morning the ‘Concours des Vins’ have offered a visit to their offices in nearby Bourg-sur -Gironde. If you go to their website www.concoursdesvins.net you will find a full explanation via a video of their work and the difference of the two concours namely ‘Challenge du Vin’ and the ‘Citadelles du Vin’.
Following the visit to the Concours des Vins we visit le Moulin de Lansac which is situated in the heart of the Cote de Bourg, it stands on top of a hill and has beautiful 360 degree views across the surrounding countryside. In recent years the windmill has been fully restored thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers.
Members of the Bordeaux British Community, Anne and John List have kindly offered a guided tour of the mill. There is also an exhibition room and an opportunity to purchase flour which has been produced on site.
Full information on the mill is here: http://invisiblebordeaux.blogspot.fr/2013/01/moulin-de-lansac-making-millstones-turn.html#more
In the grounds are a number of picnic tables. For your comfort bring a cushion and table cloth together with your picnic lunch and drinks. We then also plan to test your knowledge of world wines with a blind tasting of wines from around the world. Sounds fun !
We do hope that you will join us for what promises to be a great day out. A donation of 3,50€ per person will be collected for the day and donated to the mill which is funded by voluntary contributions.
Meet 11 am at the Concours des Vin Offices for a guided tour
At mid-day, drive 4 km to the Lansac Windmill for a picnic lunch and blind wine tasting followed by a guided tour of the windmill in groups of 10 and an opportunity to purchase flour and visit the current exhibition.
