We first met Mary in the mid nineties when she and Mike came to settle in South West
France. They initially lived in the country and then moved into central Bordeaux.
In all their homes they were generous hosts, for the BBC and personally. Many
members attended Paddy’s Night “chez eux”, with joyous singing and Irish music
played by live musicians, often from the Connemara Pub.
Mary was a force to be reckoned with and we will miss her joie de vivre, vitality and
Irishness. She loved dancing and cruising which she continued to do after Mike had
died, despite losing some of her previous sparkle.
We send our deepest condolences to her son Declan, daughter Andrea and their
families.
